TWO EXAMPLES
1- Actress/Author
When I got a call from an actress/author she had been working on her one-woman autobiographical play for six years, and for the previous three years had made little progress, on it, and that felt really stressful (for her).
Coach, Joseph – What’s more important than your play?
Actress – Silent for three minutes, then says, “Being a mother”.
Coach – Do you want to be a single mother or co-parent?
Actress – Co-parent.
Coach – Have you met your partner?
Actress – Not yet.
Coach – When would you like to be pregnant?
Actress – Two years or less.
Coach – How long would you like to be with your partner before getting pregnant?
Actress – More than a year.
The result – She completed writing her play in two weeks!
2- Professional Golfer
Golf Pro: My performance in practice is excellent. My performance in tournaments is embarrassing.
Coach, Joseph: How would it feel if you played in tournaments as you do in practice?
Golf Pro: It would feel great!
Coach: Ok so here’s a new reality for you to play with. Until you’ve won the PGA two years in a row, consider ANYTIME that you are on a golf course that you are still practicing.
Golf Pro: Silent and visualizing. Ok, I’d do it and report back.
The result – His golf game dramatically improved immediately!
